This weekend the Gridiron season begins again and hope was low for my Irish Warriors side. Dire season last year and nothing suggested things would improve after the draft & trading.
My O Line suffered badly in ageing and I had to go out and trade for a starting Centre but thankfully managed to get one, then went looking for various back up players and traded out a receiver.
Pre season game was tight affair where I rest a lot of players to gain experience for new players, especially rookies. But the season proper began with a huge surprise win over the Ontario Stringrays. The Rays were predicted to really push on this season, after an amazing draft, some decent trading and the fact that they had an active coach for really the first time in their history.

My other reason for being home last weekend was to meet my nephew for the first time. I spent the weekend in the Nagle household, thank you Fiona & Denis. It was great spending time in your home with your beautiful children.
Ciaran Nagle is a lovely little (big) baby, he is very attentive and smiles for you. I fed him in the back seat leaning across from the front seat on the way back from the airport. That was an experience, especially as I'd not really gotten a good look at the wee fella. But later that day, I fed him again this time holding him properly and after giving him a big (gentle) hug. I have a beautiful photo of me holding him, but I can't post it here I'm afraid, maybe email me.
Kate was in great humour, I watched Ant Bully with her on Saturday morning before heading off to the rugby. She wasn't impressed that we didn't watch Cindrella Story right after it instead watching the election coverage. Kate loved her presents from Rachel & myself, we missed her birthday. As this trip was my first time home since May. We went to the Disney store on Thursday evening in Westfields and picked up a couple of things for the little ones. So Kate had a couple of fairy items to parade around Friday night. A little wand and tiara as well as a little clutch bag, all Tinkerbell green.
It was a lovely weekend with my niece & nephew, sorry for potentially giving you all an infection, but I'm sticking to the brother's story that it was probably Kate picking something up in school.

Last Saturday evening I was on the supporters terrace at the RDS (Royal Dublin Society show ground) for the Magners League match between Leinster and Munster.
The anticipation before the game was palpable, Munster were expected to be the hungrier side as we'd won the last game (Allez les Bleus). Chatting to some seasoned fans of Leinster, they also felt the score would be tight and were worried that Munster would edge it. The larger discussion point was why Kearney was on the bench, with the belief that it was Horgan not Nacewa who had to impress to save his jersey next week against Irish.
