I have given myself a week off between finishing my old job and starting my new one.
I was already going to Edinburgh for diplomacy at the end of February, so when I was going to be finishing working for AE that week, I definitely didn't want to start work straight after a weekend away. And since, my original start date was supposed to be the 21st of March, I felt bringing that forward two weeks and giving myself a week made a lot of sense.

So first up, I had a great weekend playing diplomacy, I'll write about that separately, I have all the game sheets to write up a formal report for the Tour of Britain website.

Secondly, my aim was to relax, to go to the museums & to reacquaint with friends I'd not seen in ages. And finally, to get things sorted at home, and on the computer

I've not been to the museum, I've spent most of the week, fixing things on the computer, chatting with friends online and setting up my iPhone, as well as engaging in negotiations for Gridiron. But the week is not over, planning on going up to the museum later today, they are open till 9pm and the new exhibition started today.

The room is a lot tidier, but more could be done, I've acquired a lot of paper & books, since clearing my desk of personal stuff, some of these notepads & books will go with me to the new job, others will need to be considered before being thrown out. Time to be ruthless. We need to start filing letters or shredding them. Clothes situation is well in hand, lots of washes done, chair-drobe no more.

On the computer, I spent my first day off, before going to the airport, ripping all my CDs and several of Rachel's onto the computer, and organising photos, generating shared music & photo folders as well as separate stuff. There is still a lot more photos to get off Rachel's laptop & camera onto the main computer, and then backed up on the backup tower. That is a job for another day, probably some evening or weekend rather than this week.

The iPhone has taken up quiet a bit of my time, I've had to generate the contacts from scratch practically since iTunes doesn't recognise Thunderbird, and only some of the phone contacts were on the SIM and recognisable. No harm, a bit of time and I had plenty.

On the reacquainting front, I have been much more successful.
Met up with Alan on Tuesday afternoon for lunch, we've not seen each other since before Christmas, nice long lunch, good conversation, and hopefully we'll be able to find time to get together, the four of us, we managed it twice last year and they were lovely evenings, very grown up. Either way the two us will endeavour to occasionally meet up over lunch, somewhere halfway between our workplaces. I am really looking forward to working in London and the opportunities it gives me to meet up with people again, either at lunch or after work.

Also met up with Zane on Wednesday after for a natter about Gridiron, delightful afternoon. And I'm meeting Conrad from LondonOnBoard tomorrow afternoon for games as well, excellent week.

I've still to get to the Bank with our bags of change, there's at least £25 to be cashed in, and I've to collect Rachel's passport from Knightsbridge, the choices of which museum to visit apres Embassy are interesting, Piccadilly line up to Holborn for the BM or walk over to South Ken and go to Natural History, Science or V&A, choices choices.
